So many mamas are looking to do homeschooling without worksheets, because let’s face it… The world just has too many worksheets.
I’ve been there, many times. So I know you’ve been there too! The kids do amazing with homeschool one day and the next day they are just. plain. over. it.
It can be frustrating. Especially with littles who don’t really understand the concept of “school” anyway.
Sidenote: I often wonder why the “legal” school age is 7, yet Kindergarten starts at 5… Just me?
Kids love to learn, obviously, but sitting in a chair holding their pencil correctly for five hours a day is boring and not feeding their love for learning the way they were created to learn.
After struggling with my own kindergartner, I finally realized that I don’t NEED paper “proof” that he’s learning. We can learn all we need to, without worksheets, and just for the fun of it!
So, I set out to create this list (by subject!) of things we can do as a family of homeschoolers instead of endless worksheets. Because… even my middle schooler needs a break from the books every once in a while!
Implement two of these homeschool activities a week and have an entire year’s worth of non-worksheet learning just from this resource!
Now, this list contains activities you can do that instill a love for learning within your kids, but they are not necessarily hands-off for you.
Some of the homeschool activities listed can be done independently, but most will need your help, supervision, or encouragement! But I promise all of the activities will be fun and exciting for your kiddo!
You’ll see things in the language arts section like:
- Read a book while having a picnic
- Make up your own news story
- Play Apples to Apples
- Start a family blog or journal
In the science section, you’ll see things like:
- Grow a germ farm
- Make lemon volcanoes (which was SO much fun!)
- Watch Bill Nye the Science Guy
- Make leaf rubbings
Other sections include math, history, art, health, and physical education! There are also links to a few things we love and more resources of fun for your littles!
Seriously… be prepared. These homeschool activities are some that will be begged for over and over again 🙂
HOMESCHOOLING WITHOUT WORKSHEETS – PIN FOR LATER!
That’s right! I’ve been approved to blog content for the incredible homeschool curriculum company, Timberdoodle (that’s where we purchased all of Lily’s curriculum this year!) And I’m joining in with them this week for the Timberdoodle Blog Hop!
Check out what other families are doing to give you some ideas on how to bring some creativity to your homeschool this week!
