Man, does Candace Cameron Bure know how to write a book or what? I had never read anything she had written before but this past year I was on this kindness kick, so when she released Kind is the New Classy, I knew I had to give it a chance. It did not disappoint.

I fully believe that if the world read this book, it would be a much better place. Candace (yes, we’re on a first-name basis now!) does an incredible job at showcasing the simplicity, yet utter importance, of being kind and it’s totally relatable!

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the book:

“An empowered woman believes she can do anything because her own strength, courage, boldness, and drive are enough. An in-powered woman believes she can do anything because God is enough. God holds all those attributes and more and supplies them to every one of us, even when we don’t think we’re capable of carrying them.”

“The me-first mentality walks into a room asking what it can get; kindness walks into a room seeking to give with no expectation of return.”

“How can I stay calm, cool, and collected when people are unkind to me? Here’s the truth. I don’t always feel calm. Rather I’m mindful of my purpose – to glorify God in all I do.”

Kind is the New Classy sets the tone that above all else, be kind. When you’ve been hurt, be kind. When you didn’t get what you thought you wanted or needed, or deserved, be kind. When you feel lonely or empty, be kind. When you just want to be mad at the world, cool, be mad, but be mad while you’re being kind.

There’s so much crap in the world right now, can you imagine what would happen if we chose to walk together, hand-in-hand, with kindness leading the way? Sure, we are all different, but why can’t one common ground unify us? Why can’t we respect one another’s differences and just extend kindness and grace?

Let’s just say that I am truly a better, more cognizant individual because of this book. So, without further adieu, here’s what you came for: Seven reasons why you should read Kind is the New Classy by Candace Cameron Bure.

  1. This book shows you how to keep calm when you’re under a lot of pressure.
  2. Candace teaches you how to develop your mission and stay grounded to it as you’re on this journey we like to call life.
  3. Criticism will be something you look forward to because it will give you the opportunity to extend grace.
  4. You’ll be reminded of the power of a good deep breath.
  5. The best directives for figuring out how to navigate the world is found in this book.
  6. The importance of prayer and putting God first in your life will be magnified.
  7. Asking for what you want and need will lead the way to your new confidence in who and whose you are.

If you’re not feeling this book yet, then you’re probably the person who needs to read it the most. If you are beyond excited to start reading it, then you’re probably the person who needs to read it the most.

The beauty of this book is that it doesn’t discriminate. We could all use a little more kindness in our world. Right?

I will leave you with this final quote, and probably my favorite one out of the entire book, even though almost every sentence in my book is underlined and highlighted…

“Kindness is a choice. Sometimes it’s an easy one to make, and we reap immediate benefits. Other times it’s one of the hardest choices you’ll ever make, and extending grace to someone who has hurt you or riled you will go against everything your heart is telling you. My advice? Choose it anyway.”
